Message: “Keep Yourselves From Idols // Burlington” from Pastor Rick Picariello

A message from the series “Walking Through The Storm – 1 John.” Someone’s last words matter to us. Whether it be a final speech given at a graduation ceremony, what was said to a spouse before they left for work or the precious words spoken before someone we love passes away, final words make a difference. They tend to leave an impression on our hearts and minds.

As we come to a close on our 1 John sermon series, John finishes strong with his final words to us. He speaks to us about idols. But honestly, idols then and now certainly look different. So what is an idol in our culture today? How do we recognize the idols in our life and most importantly, how does the Lord want us to handle these idols? This subject of idolatry is not to be taken lightly as followers of Christ so listen to this week’s sermon to know what God has to say about the idols in our own lives.

A message from the series “Finding Joy in God\’s Gift of Rest.” September is not usually the time of year where the word “rest” comes to mind. As this season comes and the plethora of school activities and other commitments start to take up white space on our calendar, we may have other words or phrases that come to mind. “Ramping up”, “go time”, “kicking into high gear” or just simply the word BUSY may be what comes to mind first. So how can we possibly bring up rest at a time like this? Quite frankly, it seems maybe this would be just the right time to talk about such an important topic. God’s Word speaks highly of taking time to rest. Therefore, it should be a vital topic to us in our walk with Christ no matter what time of the year it is. Join us as we start a new sermon series, Finding Joy in God’s Gift of Rest, to learn what scripture teaches us about what rest truly is.

A message from the series “Finding Joy in God’s Gift of Rest.” In life, our memory is vital to us as we walk through our days. Not remembering or remembering incorrectly can lead us into the wrong places or situations. We learn from God’s Word that theIsraelites certainly had a hard time remembering. They too often forgot who God was or what He had done for them. So how can we remember who God is in the midst of the busyness of our lives?

In our current sermon series, Finding Joy in God’s Gift of Rest, we have learned that God requires us to observe the Sabbath following His example to us. This week we dig a little deeper to understand the importance of remembering theSabbath in order to remind us of who God is even when life is full. Listen in to learn how the Sabbath can combat the busyness of our days.

Message: “Commitment to Jesus as Lord // Belmont” from Pastor Brian Krogh

A message from the series “Finding Joy in God’s Gift of Rest.” Through our current sermon series, we have been learning to define Sabbath and why it is important to the Lord for us to observe it in our lives. He has shown us through His Word theimportance of Sabbath being a time to rest and remember. But how do we further define Sabbath to know what it should actually look like in our lives? What are we supposed to do and not do when it comes to Sabbath?

When it comes to logistics, we tend to want clear boundaries. As we continue on, we take a look at the book of Mark to gain more clarity as to what the Sabbath should look like for each us as followers of Christ.

After you listen to the sermon, take some time to answer the following questions:

What do you need to say no to on the Sabbath? What are some things you can say yes to on the Sabbath?
Where are you ignoring or neglecting the blessings of God or goodness of God on the Sabbath?

Message: “A Commitment to Hope // Burlington” from Pastor Brian Krogh

A message from the series “Finding Joy in God\’s Gift of Rest.” As we have walked through our recent sermon series on the gift of rest, we have looked at what rest actually is and what it can look like in our lives. By looking at these two aspects, we can also realize that there can certainly be a tension between resting and doing. So how do we deal with this tension? How do we strive to rest as the Bible tells us to do?

On this last week of our sermon series, Finding Joy in the Midst of Rest, we can see how the Word guides us into three kinds of rest and how God teaches us the way to walk out each one in our own lives.
