Welcome, Neighbor!  

We’re Mount Hope, a local church in Belmont, and we love helping neighbors get connected. Whether you moved in a few months ago or you’re still surrounded by boxes, we hope this page helps you feel at home a little faster.

EVERYDAY ESSENTIALS

Helpful basics for daily life in Belmont:

  • Parking: Overnight street parking is prohibited in Belmont from 1am – 7am, except under special circumstances. Parking is also prohibited during winter weather parking bans, which are announced on the Belmont website. 
  • Trash and Recycling: See the calendar for trash and recycling collection, including dates for special holiday weeks, yard waste pick-ups, and Christmas tree collection. Belmont offers bulky item pick-ups for a fee (must be scheduled in advance) and mattress and box-spring recycling. 
  • Commuting: Belmont is served by 3 buses into Harvard Square (the 7374 and 75), and two commuter rail stations into downtown Boston (North Station). Buses accept contactless payment. 
  • Biking: Belmont is a bike-friendly town with quiet residential streets and easy access to nearby shared-use paths. You can connect to the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway in nearby Cambridge and Arlington, and roads like Trapelo Rd, Concord Ave and Pleasant St have marked bike lanes. Belmont has a renowned bike shop that draws cyclists from all over Boston. 
  • Town Alerts: Sign up for text alerts during winter parking bans or other community emergencies. 

COMMUNITY & PROGRAMS

Discover local programs, services, and organizations that support and connect residents of all ages.

  • Belmont Recreation Department: Explore the recreation programs for all ages, from littles to senior citizens. 
  • Belmont Library: Belmont’s beautiful new library (opened January 2026!) is part of the Minuteman Library Network, giving you access to materials from 41 local libraries. You can request books and movies from other towns and have them delivered right to Belmont. The library also hosts regular events for kids, teens, and adults. 
  • Kangaroo Calendar: Explore this online calendar that pulls together kid-friendly activities happening in Belmont and surrounding towns. 
  • Belmont Helps: A local grassroots organization that works to alleviate food insecurity in Belmont and respond to the pressing needs of our neighbors. You can request assistance or volunteer with Belmont Helps. 
  • Beech Street Senior Center: The center offers a wide range of resources for Belmont senior citizens, including free rides on the “BelderBus” to nearby medical offices, a seniors-only fitness center, and a full calendar of events. 
  • Paws in the Park Program: Belmont’s off-leash program lets dogs enjoy designated parks. Dogs must have a town-issued permit and be licensed.

OUTDOOR FUN

Enjoy Belmont’s parks, activities, and outdoor spaces throughout the year.

  • Parks & Playgrounds: Belmont has many great outdoor spaces. Some of our favorite parks include: 
    • Beaver Brook, complete with a splash pad, playground, and flowing stream that kids (and dogs!) love to explore.
  • Beaver Brook/Rock Meadow Reservation: Head in and it quickly feels like you’re deep in the woods. Mountain biking trails run throughout Beaver Brook, and Rock Meadow offers wonderful birding opportunities.
  • Belmont Farmers’ Market: Running June–October on Thursdays in the Belmont Center parking lot, the Farmers’ Market is a great stop for fresh produce, baked goods, and local vendors.  
  • Racket Sports: Public tennis and pickleball courts are available at Grove Street Park, PQ Park, Winn Brook, and Town Field. Seasonal reservations are available through Belmont Recreation, with drop-in play as well. 
  • Underwood Pool (Seasonal Outdoor Pool): Belmont’s public pool is a summer favorite, typically open from late June through mid-August. Check Belmont Recreation for hours and membership details.

FAVORITE BELMONT RESTAURANTS

Belmont has lots of hidden gems — here are just a few local favorites: 

  • My Other Kitchen: American cuisine with a Mediterranean flair on Pleasant Street. From pita sandwiches to salads and soup, everything here is incredible.  
  • La Victoria Taqueria: Mexican street food on Leonard Street in Belmont Center. Affordable and delicious – definitely try the tortas!  
  • Number 1 Taste: Chinese-American food near Waverley Square. A cozy takeout staple with all the classics.  
  • Tatte Bakery and Cafe: A popular coffee spot with a huge food menu in Waverley Square. Israeli, Mediterranean, and European influences, with fantastic seasonal menus.  
  • Ani Catering and Cafe: A local Armenian restaurant on Belmont Street. Warm, welcoming, and full of homemade flavor.  
  • Belmont Pizza: A classic neighborhood pizza spot on Trapelo Rd, with nostalgic, stuck-in-time charm.

GETTING CONNECTED

Easy ways to get plugged in to the community.

  • The Belmont Voice: Our local independent newspaper, distributed to every house in Belmont free of charge. A great way to stay up to date on local news and community events. 
  • Town Day: A beloved local tradition with booths, food, music, and more. It’s one of our favorite community traditions! Mark your calendars for May 16, 2026. 
  • Porchfest: A grassroots music and performance event where local musicians and neighbors perform on porches and informal spots around town. Check out our stage at Mount Hope in 2026! 
  • Mount Hope: If you’re looking for community, friendship, or a place to worship, we’d love to meet you! You’re always welcome.
