The Watchmen Ministry at Mount Hope Christian Center is geared toward helping men become followers of Jesus Christ by challenging men to live out their Christian beliefs and empowering them to be better husbands, fathers, and leaders. At its heart are weekly prayer groups which meet Saturdays at 6 a.m. and Mondays at 7:00 p.m. At these weekly groups the men meet to pray for the church and one another. Throughout the year, Watchmen also hold events to teach, encourage, and build a strong community of men.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: What's with the name?
A: The name Watchmen comes from Ezekiel 3:17 which says, “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.” In this passage God is calling Ezekiel to be a watchman to the people of Israel. He is instructed to listen to messages from God and to teach and watch over the people. In the same way, we as men want to be listening for God's will and leading and teaching in our spheres of influence.
- Q: How do I get involved with the Watchmen?
A: The first and most meaningful way is the prayer groups that meet on Saturdays and Mondays. They are the foundation of the ministry. Some of the other events are a great way to get involved not only for our own growth but also to bring friends to, or maybe even people who don’t attend Mount Hope. Keep an eye on the bulletin, listen to the announcements, and check out the website for other things as we continue to grow.
