We went to the beach this past Saturday. It was one of those rare beautiful New England summer days that we look forward to all winter. The sun was shining, the sea gulls were squawking in the background, the sand was warm on our bare feet, and the water was chilly, but refreshing. It was one of those days where it just felt like God was smiling at you. As I walked along the shoreline I couldn't help but smile as I watched Isaac run ahead of me excited and enamored by the next shell he might find, or the sight of his footprints in the sand, or looking for the next best place to dig a hole. Suddenly I found myself overwhelmed by the love of God. Not so much because he gave me the gift of being a father to Isaac, as incredible as that is, but because Isaac is running on God's creation basking in His sun without a care in the world and God is OK with that. In fact I think it brings a smile to the face of God just as it did to my face. I think God loves to watch us run around in freedom enjoying all that He has made and He gets excited when we discover new things about His creation and about Him. Just like I love to bring Isaac to the beach and in a sense say, "OK son have at it, run, jump, play in the mud, do anything you want this is all for you." I think God says the same thing to us, "OK daughter or son, here is my creation have a blast."
